Brazilian Plum is ripe for the second time this year. This time I didn't let the birds get it all.
It looks like a Bing Cherry but tastes like a plum with a hint of cinnamon in it.
Very unique fruit flavor. The skin is not as tender as a cherry, more like a plum.

Any recipe ideas ?

Well the Brazilian Plum out did itself this year. The tree produced a fairly good crop
that we ate in several dishes. First we just ate them raw off the tree. The cherry like fruits are sweet with just a hint of cinnamon .

I made frozen yogurt with about two quarts of them.
That is easy to make:  just mush up the plums and stir it into a quart of
low fat yogurt, add about 1/2 cup of almond or coconut milk or cow milk and freeze.
The more you take it out and stir it the smoother it will be when finished.

I froze another 2 quarts and plan to make some jam . Anyone have a recipe ?

I've been calling them "Brazilian Cherries" and the birds have been getting most of them.  If anyone wants a plant, there's several volunteers you can dig up if you want.

For jam, can you just simmer them until they are soft and run them through a ricer or a strainer to get out the seeds and skins?  That more or less makes plum sauce like apple sauce.  Then simmer that until it gets thick and stick it in jars?  That's how I make guava butter or peach butter or just about any jam.  You can toss sugar or stevia at it if you want it sweeter, I'd think.
