Big corn... In Hawaii...
Well, we don't have a direct GMO label, although the USDA organic label is supposed to indicate that it is non-GMO. That label, gives no indication, however, that the organic material used to grow the product was obtained locally. Biodynamics (Demeter certification), although less specific, places greater value on local / within the farm.
I stayed at Ailani orchards in Na'alehu last month. They have forgone certification, but use organic, very much within the farm, methods. Their experience with certification seemed to be one of paper only. I'm seeing more value in knowing who/where food is grown, than any label.
Still, Captain GMO having control over little guy local's water supply could be devastating. Rain, rain, baby rain!!
